The Best Resolutions for You

Are you sick of promising yourself that you'll do something great this year only to find yourself failing by year-end? That's because maybe you're making the wrong resolutions. You can exactly be sure what the driving force is, but somewhere between stuffing yourself with fruitcake and decking the halls with boughs of holly, you feel compelled to culminate your year-end celebrations with these boring resolutions. Of course, you have every intention of keeping them, and this is why you really string up a list of must-do's in the first place, and put them up in personal blogs, at the back of journals, or boldly declare them amidst swaggering witnesses at the first toast of the new year.

But, what's the fun in that? This year, why don't you break your regular promises and celebrate the real you instead of trying to reform the psychotic little thing that you can sometimes be. The first and most common resolution people make is to lose all that holiday weight. This is such a beaten horse when it comes to promises that you can't help but feel sorry to find yourself saying these words over and over again, year after year. Get real! There isn't always time for exercising, and diets are only good for as long as you don't actually come face-to-face with a molten hot chocolate lava cake. As if battling lack of time and resisting temptation weren't enough, binding this resolution to your list only increases the weight on your shoulders, and it shows up in the scales. If you focus on losing weight, you will attract back having to lose more weight, and that the condition of being overweight was created by your thoughts.

Let go of all these limiting ideas. Food cannot cause you to put on weight, unless you think it can. Think and believe that you're already in your ideal weight. Somehow, the genie of your universe grants your wish at command. Ask, believe, and you shall receive. This has to work because the more you believe that you're already at your fittest, the more conscious you will be in making healthier food choices. This is not to say that you should trick yourself into believing that you're a size zero when you're obviously more than that. But, it pays not to put much pressure on yourself. The next thing you'll know, you're actually fitter than ever.

Another common resolution is finding that special person. Break this one because you already found the one: you. Celebrate being on your own. Don't treat being single like a form of disease. When you're looking for something, you'll never find it. It's when you're not looking that it'll be in abundance in your life. And it seems that this is as true of love as it is for finding safety pins. Celebrate not being tied down, discover yourself, and take your time. Pretty soon, people will just gravitate towards you. Happiness is a magnet, and you should be happy with what you have because you are an independent person. You'll see that soon, people will notice you and the air of confidence that you carry around.
