Create a Productive Environment With These Tips

A productive environment is a setting in which everything
around you supports your goals and who you want to be.

Here are some tips on how to set up an environment that inspires and facilitates your productivity... and continually supports you taking your actions all the way through to

Having clear intentions. A cluttered environment is less
productive that an orderly one, and reflects a general
absence of deliberate thoughts and actions. To enjoy the
benefits of working and living in a productive environment,
you must first have a clear intentions. Do you want to
experience affluence, adventure, creativity? What are your
highest values? When you have a vision for your life in
place, it is easier to see the value of being organized,
of having an intentional environment.

Managing paper. The biggest organizational problem for most
people is paper. Here's a tip: there are only three possible
choices with respect to papers: file them, act on them, or
toss them. Clutter is only postponed decisions. With papers,
make one of the three choices (with a heavy emphasis on
tossing them out).

Buy the best chair you can find. You'll probably use it
more than any other office equipment, including your computer,
so don't skimp on it. The chair is the only thing that
matters... invest in it.

Visual aids. You can create a project outline on the office
wall from colored sticky notes, so whenever you sit at your
desk, you can't help but notice the rainbow-colored wall,
a constant reminder to work on your project. If you’re good
at starting projects but not finishing them this could be
the "quick fix" you need.

Feng Shui. This discipline is vast, but one thing that you
should take is the concept of commanding position. In a work
environment, the commanding position means that you work
facing the entrance to your work area and have a wall right
behind you. This creates a feeling of security, makes it
easier to relax, and generates forward focus that leades to
higher productivity. If part of your focus is on what’s
happening behind you, your productivity will suffer.

Selecting the right organizational tool. A good tool is one
that structures your thought process, and allows you to
categorize and separate out everything that you need to get
organized.
