Leading The Good Life In A Positive Way

by Royston Tan

Leading The Good Life In A Positive Way

Leading the good life in a positive way is relatively easy to pull off as long as one keeps in mind that the work needed to keep just a bit of the old life after entering into a new life after marriage or commitment can be significant. However, the rewards inherent in managing not only a new life, and possibly a new family, while also bringing in a bit of the positive aspects of the old life, can be great.

For example, maybe you were once a fairly good musician and you had a good gig going in a band but you also finally met the woman of your dreams and all of the things that come with that. As long as you make sure that you're taking care of business, to use a line from an old rock standard, you can still pull out your Ibanez electric guitar and have a few jam sessions with friends on occasion.

Keep in mind an important word when it comes to all of the above; priorities. You've got to have them if you hope to lead a good life made up of many positive aspects that marries just a bit of what you once had in your old life with the far greater rewards you're gaining in your new life. This means making a plan and sticking with it by figuring out what's important and what's not so important and then taking care of both in their own order.

Perhaps you've got a baby now and you are some sort of enthusiast when it comes to nature photography and the like. Well, rather than leaving the significant other and the baby back at home while you go out and indulge your enthusiasm -- which is a sure way to eventual disharmony in a home -- put the baby in the Eddie Bauer convertible baby seat, grab the wife and the cameras and head for the wilderness.

The point to all of this is that you need to look at life like a big cake; slice it up into its proper proportions and have a piece -- in a manageable size, of course -- and enjoy it. And a good way of sweeping up one or another of those pieces is to get to work on all those projects you now want to do around your home. Making it more habitable for the family may mean pulling out a portable space heater and getting that unheated garage wired up, for example.

In actuality, keeping the best of what he once had while also joining it completely to what you now have -- if looked at positively -- is eminently doable. Keep in mind that you always want to have things you can count on in your life, such as the love of a family and your love for them. It can help you grow as a person while also helping you to better plan out your life just a bit more than you once were capable of doing.

Having a positive life full of meaning means understanding that taking care of business in terms of what's important in your life will be essential above all else. There are certainly enough planning tools out there to help you along this path, as well as the advice of countless professionals and the assistance of friends. In fact, some planning tools can take you out several years, so get your life in order and appreciate what you have.
