Learning To Say No!

by Joice
(Riverside)

My number one time management tip has been to say no more often.

Learn to say "No" to opportunities and requests that take your time and don't move you forward towards goal attainment.

To the extent feasible, saying "no" is an important safeguard of your time.

Doing so with courtesy and conviction will make it easier to say "yes" at a later date and simultaneously affirm your commitment to yourself to follow through on your scheduled activities.

A simple and direct "NO, I am not able to help you with that" is the best solution. If you want to (have to) give an explanation you should keep it simple:"NO, I have already made an another appointment for this time" or "NO, sorry. I am afraid I have to decline because I have no spare time."

No also means shutting your door so people do not just aimlessly drop by to chat.
